Job Title: Development Associate
Reports to: Executive Director
Salary Range: $60,000–$80,000 annually based on experience

Position Summary:
SEEC Institute seeks a highly organized and motivated Development Associate to play a key role in supporting fundraising and stakeholder engagement efforts. This individual will assist in managing donor relationships, preparing fundraising strategies, and maintaining detailed records to enhance the organization's mission. 

The Development Associate will be expected to wear multiple hats, adapting to the evolving needs of a new organization. As a new position, this offers an exciting opportunity to shape the role and make a tangible impact on SEEC Institute’s growth. Key Responsibilities:

  1. Fundraising Support:

    • Assist in executing development strategies to meet organizational fundraising goals.

    • Research prospective donors and prepare donor outreach materials.

    • Draft donor communications, including thank-you letters, newsletters, and funding proposals.

  2. Event and Meeting Coordination:

    • Provide logistical support for donor meetings and events.

    • Help coordinate travel arrangements, venue bookings, and other event planning details.

  3. Database Management:

    • Maintain accurate donor and prospect information in the organization's CRM system.

    • Track contributions and generate regular fundraising reports for leadership.

  4. Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Support the cultivation and stewardship of donor relationships.

    • Assist in preparing briefing materials for meetings with Members of Congress, private sector leaders, and other stakeholders.

  5. Administrative Tasks:

    • Manage invoices, contracts, and expense reports related to development activities.

    • Coordinate internal schedules and ensure timely follow-up on development tasks.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Political Science, Environmental Studies, Nonprofit Management, or Communications).

  • Experience: 2–4 years in a development or fundraising-related role strongly preferred.

  • Skills:

    • Exceptional organizational and time-management abilities.

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    • A proactive and adaptable mindset.

    • Comfort with virtual collaboration.

    • Familiarity with the legislative process and climate/clean energy policy is a plus.

Additional Requirements:

  • Based in Washington, D.C. with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a remote-first environment, with occasional in-person meetings.

  • Willingness to travel as needed (up to 10%).
